New Year, New Bags

Happy New Year! We had a wonderful Christmas and New Year spending lots of time with family and friends.   Last week we got back into our usual routines and I was able to spend a bit of time sewing. I made this tote bag using two half yards of fabric. I fell in love with this Echino print and I lined the bag with a coordinating Kona solid.

Aren't these little birdies and butterflies cute?

I also just finished up a new Birdie Sling Bag for my sister-in-law. Ever since Aviary 2 came out I knew I wanted to make her a bag from the Sparrows in Vintage Yellow print. I paired it with a Quilters Linen in Stone.

I used a triple stitch for all of the yellow edge stitching I did on the bag and I'm really happy with how it made the stitching really stand out.

The bag is lined with Aviary 2 Lodge Lattice in Vintage Yellow and I added a snap to close the top.

I've really been enjoying making bags and hope to have a few more to share soon.
